Annie Waters: Thoughts in Passing

Through her art, Waters invites viewers to observe the cycle of life through the lens of botanical studies paired with various portraits of loved ones, acquaintances, and imagined historical figures. Of her latest exhibition, she states, “Distilled plant forms, the remains of stems, buds, flowers, and seeds left to decay, open up conversations towards our maturing physical and mental state, and the overall fragility of life. These pieces define a process of coming to terms with change in both ourselves and others and the preference to find beauty in the discarded and the overlooked.”

The show will debut with an opening reception on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and remain on display during regular gallery hours through Sunday, January 10, 2021. FOUND:RE Contemporary is a free-standing gallery adjacent to the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel located off Portland Street.
